Feeling Crafty

Mine

Professional

I guess I have just had a number of things that I have wanted/needed to do and just have been making the time lately. My mom needed a new sign for her front door sign holder. We both have a similar one. I had a sunflower and she had mentioned that she wanted one too. So yesterday morning at 6:00am I pulled out my scroll saw so that I could cut with no kiddos around and cut out a sunflower for my mom and then painted it later in the afternoon. I had forgotten how much I like doing that. The first one is the one that I made and the second is the professional one that I had bought and copied. I think it is a pretty close likeness. Now I want to paint my whole sign and make some more. It doesnt cost anything because I just used scrap wood and paint I already had. I hope mom dont read this before Mother's Day because that is what she is getting. Another item on my list is to make McKinley some hair bows. I dont really know how, but I was experimenting yesterday. I want to get some of the alligator clips, but I forgot while I was at the store so I will save that for later. I also have fabric to make McKinley a dress and a blanket for each of my kids that I still need to get to. I have big ideas and not always the time to get it all done.

keeley

I got this email from my 9 year old neice. I thought it was the cutest thing that I have ever seen. She is so creative and sweet. She is always thinking up one idea or another to make herself some money. The email was actually even cuter because she had it in different colors and fonts and sizes and had a picture of it. If anyone is interested contact me and I will let her know.

Fashion Plates

After dinner, Trevor said that he was going to take the kids to Walmart, but they needed to change their dirty shirts and get their shoes on. This is what Carter and McKinley came up with. Run down-Carter has on his same dirty shirt, a pair of McKinley's jeans with a hole in the knee, suspenders down through his legs, and a pair of McKinley's pink sparkly flip flops that are probably 3 sizes too small. McKinley put on a long sleeve shirt, a pair of jeans and snow boots. Not to bad, if it wasnt 90 degrees outside right now.

Happy Birthday Kyle!!!!Today is Kyle's birthday and sorry to say this is one of the only pictures that I could find of her. This is the best one anyway. I hope that you have a great birthday. I wished that I could hijack your blog to put it there, but I put it on mine instead. Thanks for being such a great sister. See you later.

Single Mom Life

I hope that I dont offend actual single moms. Sometimes I just feel like one. On Monday night Trevor said good night to the kids and told them he would see them on Wednesday night. It is true. He obviously worked all day and then he went straight to the temple to get his training as a veil worker. He was very nervous and excited about it. It has been a goal of his and now he has accomplished it. So, he didnt get home until late and then, he will work all day today and will not be home in time for me to leave to scouts so I will take all the kids with me. I am glad that we only have a few more scout meetings before summer and then hopefully we will be able to work out a better schedule because I dont think that we will get much accomplished with my 3 little kids running around.

I decided to take my kids to the mall last night so we wouldnt miss having our dad home so much. I bribed them to clean their rooms in order to go ride the merry-go-round. It is fun and only a few of my kids had riden before. I needed to get something there anyway, so I guess I just wanted my kids to clean their room. We went and played at the foamy play area and had a good time. I took a picture of my kids on the slide and several moms commented how their kids would never sit for a picture like that. I told them they are just used to it, I take their picture all the time. On the way home, we stopped at the library because Lincoln has to do one more book report before the end of the year. He picked a Junie B. Jones book. I thought it was a little juvenile for him, but the only criteria is that it has chapters and we are getting a pretty late start. Carter picked some book called Inch and Miles and McKinley got a Fancy Nancy book. It was pretty fun and we decided to go more often. Lincoln loves to look at the books for keeps and so we did that before we left. They sell books for 50 cents and he bought the 1st Harry Potter book. He loves Harry Potter and we dont own the 1st one. (borrowed it to read it years ago.) He had brought his money and loves to spend it. He always want to get a book there, but it seems that I never have change when we go or even dollars. He was thrilled to get a new book and will read it once he is done with his book report book. I am looking forward to having the kids out of school and doing some fun things. 12 more days.

Where do I begin

My life has been totally crazy lately. Hold on, this is going to get crazy. To start off Trevor started his new job today at University of Phoenix. Congrats to you and good luck. I love you Trev. Anyway, this weekend was busy. We got up Saturday morning and in an effort to save money I decided that I was going to start cutting my kid's hair. I have no training and 3 of them are boys, but it wasn't too bad, I must say. Lincoln's turned out a little shorter than he wanted it, but hey, he didn't even complain. Carter and Jack were easy, BUZZ. McKinley wanted one too, so I even gave that a shot. I just trimmed it up a little, but I think it looks pretty good too.
McKinley had a birthday party Saturday morning and the mom needed a little help so I ended up staying and helping with the games. It was pretty fun. We came home and I got some much needed typing done and then it was Lincoln's turn for a birthday party. It was at Amazing Jake's and was only an hour and a half so I thought that Trevor and the kids and I would all load up and run a few errands while we were out there. I ran and got some fabric for a dress that I am making McKinley, Trevor went to Audio Express to look at car stereos. He is just getting an idea of how much they cost for when we do have extra money and is able to get one. It looks like he will be able to do it for about $120-130 range, so not too bad. I ran into the Deseret Book to get a copy of the Ensign-confrence one, but they were sold out and then we went to Costco. We were eating out pizza at Costco when I looked at my watch and realized it was time to pick up Lincoln NOW. We hurried and got him and came home to get church clothes and baths for Sunday. Tom and Kati blessed their baby MaeLee Ann Sunday morning. Trevor had meetings so I got all my kids ready and to church 20 mins away at 9:00 am and I was 15 minutes early. Now come on people, if I can do that then no one has an excuse to be late to church every week. Just kidding. I just hate being late. We came home and took a rest and then headed to my parents house for our break the fast dinner that we have every fast Sunday. Yummy Chicken Tacos. It was a busy weekend, but a good one.

The Misadventures of the MVD

Well, my story actually begins on Feb 5, Super Tuesday. I was unsure if I would be able to vote because, although I had changed my address with the MVD years before, the license I had still had still had my old address and for some reason I could not find my voter registration card. So off to the MVD office I go. I have Carter and Jackson in tow, Lincoln and McKinley were at school, thereby minimizing the casualties by two. Well, they kids start out pretty good and there is a long line. I didnt think about the fact that there was an office at Sossoman and Main and went out to the Mesa Dr office. It is dirty and busy. I wait and wait and wait and wait, finally my number is called and I get up to the window, pay my money, give her my form, blah, blah, blah.... By this point Carter is teasing Jackson and he is crying. They send me over to get my picture taken, the final step. Just as my name gets called over at that window the computers go down. Not just there, STATEWIDE. What? you have to be kidding me. It turned out that I didnt need it anyway so, I felt like it was this giant waste of time and I never went back and thought "who cares that I paid the $4 for a new license."
Fast forward to today. I get a call from the insurance company because we are putting the "new" car onto our insurance and she was putting my license number in and I dont exist. So basically they had taken out my old license and didnt put anything back in the system.
Back to the MVD I go. This time Lincoln and Carter are at school and I have McKinley and Jack with me at Jack's naptime. I need to register the car and get a new license. I went to the Sossoman office this time. It is clean and not very busy. Everyone is nice and helpful. I wait in line for about 10 minutes and the man helping me is sooo helpful. He has to do all this reseach because it was so long ago that I paid my $4 and he didnt want me to have to pay again. Then he gets me a free month on my registration. He charged me the same amount but didnt have it expire until the last day of next June. That guy was awesome. The whole thing went off without a hitch. Granted, I had plenty of other things that I needed to be doing this afternoon, but overall not a bad trip to the MVD. The lesson here is never go to the Mesa Dr office when you can go to the Sossoman Office. I have not pictures, because who wants a picture in the MVD;)
